Na promissora cidade de Edison, o ambicioso repórter investigativo em início de carreira Josh Pollack descobre fraudes na maior unidade de polícia da região. Enfrentando a resistência de seu editor Moses Ashford, ele acaba demitido por tocar no ponto nevrálgico que é a corrupção dentro do sistema de combate ao tráfico de drogas.
