Odete, ajudante de supermercado em Lisboa, sonha em ser mãe. No entanto, quando ela revela seu desejo ao namorado, ele termina o relacionamento. Isto não impede Odete de ficar cada vez mais obcecada com a ideia da maternidade. Em outro ponto da cidade, o amor entre Rui e Pedro é interrompido quando este morre em um acidente de carro.
