Este filme conta a história de Hikari, uma jovem que perdeu seu namorado no massacre de Akihabara, ocorrido em junho de 2008 e agora tenta lidar com a perda e a dor. Para isso, ela retorna ao bairro e conhece várias pessoas de vários lugares, procurando vestígios de seu amado.

A história se passa em um espaço virtual chamado Avalon. Os jogadores vêm de uma área chamada Desert 22, onde monstros gigantes nomeado Sunakujira vaguear, e a guerra contra os monstros. De repente, o último chefe Sunakujira Madara aparece e eles decidem formar um partido e derrubar o desafio contra ele.

Deep in the Valley interlaces a story of young romance set in Yanaka (part of old downtown Tokyo) with a Japanese period drama based on Five-Story Pagoda, a classic literary work by Rohan Koda. In the contemporary story, Kaori, a young woman working for a non-profit organization that restores home movies, learns that there used to be a five-story pagoda in the middle of Yanaka Cemetery. It burned down in 1957, and rumor has it that someone has an 8mm film of the fire.

Nagisa, a high school girl who has been given three months to live. Without telling her widowed father where she is going, she sets out from the city to the small town where she was born. She recalls her childhood memories, and her love for Satoshi begins to grow stronger. However, she is shocked to discover that Satoshi is having an affair with Eriko, a married woman.
