Ines acompanha o seu namorado numa viagem de negócios à Noruega. Aí conhece a enigmática Maria, que vem de Osaka. O que parece ser um encontro casual transforma-se rapidamente numa intensa amizade. Uma noite, sob as luzes do norte, a sua relação chega a um fim abrupto. Ines deixa tudo para trás e voa para o Japão, adotando a vida de Maria. Um cartão de visita com o nome de um clube de acompanhantes, "Miss Osaka", leva-a às luzes de néon de um mundo paralelo e labiríntico onde as identidades são tão fluidas como um solo suave de saxofone, onde a realidade não está à altura dos sonhos e o vazio da alma pode ser curado com uma nova personalidade.

Based on a novel of by Nukui Tokuro, Hohoemu Hito tells the story of Nito Toshimi who, after graduating from Japan’s most difficult university and founding a job at a major city bank, marries Shoko and have a daughter, Amina. Nito, while leading a life that looks like the picture of happiness and being the envy of everyone, is charged with the murder of his wife and young child. At his trial, he reveals a shocking motive for the crime: “I wanted space for books.”
Lost Serenade
Kaori (Nori Sato) runs a small piano studio. One of her students is Yuu (Uwa Ishibashi). On the way from a recital, Kaori is sexually assaulted by Yuu's father (Kentaro Furuyama). Kaori later learns Yuu has also been sexually abused by her father. Kaori and Yuu share each other's pain and eventually Kaori decides to fulfill Yuu's wish.
