Na noite em que comemora sua formatura em Direito Charlotty, uma mulher destemida e à frente do seu tempo, acaba sofrendo uma terrível agressão em frente à loja de conveniência de um posto de gasolina. Contudo, o que poderia ser considerado apenas mais uma triste estatística, ou só mais um caso de assédio sexual no Brasil, esconde por trás um encontro inesperado de Charlotty com seu passado. Em sua juventude, Charlotty trabalhou como babá de Jonathas, filho único de Esther, a mulher de um pastor extremamente conservador. Charlotty jamais se esqueceu de Esther – a única mulher que amou profundamente – e do filho dela – de quem cuidou como se também fosse seu.
