Quando a China é invadida, o imperador decreta que cada família ceda um homem para o exército imperial. Com isso, uma jovem fica angustiada ao ver seu velho e doente pai a ser convocado, por ser o único homem da família. Ele precisa ir, mesmo sabendo que certamente morrerá, para manter a honra da família. Assim, sua filha rouba sua armadura e espada, se disfarça de homem e se apresenta no lugar do seu pai, se alistando disfarçada em um exército só de homens.

Based on the story of Zheng Chenggong and focuses on his battle with the Dutch Empire for control of Taiwan at the Siege of Fort Zeelandia.

Set in the China civil war period in 1940s. A KMT pilot finishes his study in US and returns China to join KMT air force. But he is disappointed with the behavior of KMT and joins CPC army.

Chen Yunxuan and his daughter Xiujuan escape from China to Taiwan in 1949 but leave Chen's pregnant wife behind. 30 years later Xiujuan meets her mother and a brother she never knew.
