O Japão está prestes a receber o 23º tufão do ano. A matriarca Yoshiko, uma mulher idosa que mora sozinha, recebe a visita de dois filhos que não costumam ir à sua casa: Ryota, um escritor fracassado que ainda sofre com o divórcio e se arrisca fazendo bicos de detetive, e a filha mais velha, que tenta passar por exemplo da família, mas também tem seus problemas.
