For seven years, soft-spoken yet strong-willed Hitomi Saito has climbed the ranks, and is set to direct a series for the first time. At the same moment, the difficult but undeniably brilliant director Chiharu Oji is set to make his big comeback after almost a decade. The hit series that made Oji famous is what inspired Saito to jump into the anime field, and her goal is to match, and even surpass, his success and relevance. Her chance has arrived. O filme se passa um ano depois dos eventos na série de TV. Depois de passar por uma jornada meticulosa através de várias “Linhas de Mundo” devido à invenção do “D-Mail”, Okabe Rintarou finalmente chegou à linha de mundo de “Steins Gate”, onde nenhum de seus amigos morreram e o futuro dominado pela SERN não existe. No entanto, logo Rintarou começa a sentir os efeitos colaterais de suas viagens através de várias linhas de mundo, e isso leva ao desaparecimento de sua existência.
