Floresta da Tijuca
Director
The history of reforestation that took place in the mid-19th century, on the top of Tijuca. With the clearing of the primitive forest to plant coffee plantations, the springs in the region dried up and affected the water supply of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Correcting the ecological imbalance, Emperor Pedro II expropriated the local farms and appointed Manuel Gomes Archer for the task.

When his text is published in a school newspaper, the military police descend upon him. Kaput captures the counterculture spirit of 1960s Espírito Santo youth, portraying drugs, love, dancing, and rock n’ roll.

Ramon Alvarado
Ramon Alvarado is one of the most important figures of the 60s Amateur Cinema Cycle in Espírito Santo. Not only was Alvarado a prolific director of short films throughout his life, but he was also involved as the director of photography on many other important Espírito Santo film productions. Director and editor Vitor Graize brings forth archival images to add deeper layers of meaning to Alvarado’s recollections.
