Dr. Rottenberg, the greatest Martian scientist, comes to Planet Earth to make preparations for a wild invasion involving re-animated Earth bodies, Martian zombies and teenagers playing in the woods. Criaturas Hediondas is one of the first Brazilian Shot On Video (SOV) to have national distribution via VHS tapes that were marketed in stands at grindcore, death metal and punks shows, becoming a reference (at the time) in the national underground. The video was filmed with a VHS camera and mounted from video to video, in an analog way.
O MAM Rio apresenta hoje, pela primeira vez para o mundo, as cenas que filmamos em 1992 e renderam uma passagem pela delegacia para esclarecimentos. Este projeto não tinha um nome, estávamos filmando um roteiro do EB Toniolli e, depois, iríamos editar e ver o que fazer com as cenas e o clima conseguido nas gravações. O que aconteceu é que fomos, Toniolli, eu, Leandro (na câmera) e Ronald (pra uma ponta) pro cemitério municipal e populares viram aquilo e chamaram a polícia. Essas cenas só tinham sido assistidas pela equipe que as filmou e o delegado da polícia. Ou seja, depois de 30 ANOS ESQUECIDAS dentro de uma caixa, finalmente posso mostra-las para todo mundo (que tiver interesse em assisti-las, lógico!) e agradeço ao MAM-Rio por essa digitalização incrível e resgate de copiões que sozinho eu nunca teria recuperado-os.
This was my first attempt at making a movie. It was unabashedly inspired by Edward D. Wood Jr.'s Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959), one of the culprits in making me want to write increasingly meaningless scripts (the other is Jesus Franco). Until the second order, the 20-minute copy of this film, which was never edited, is lost.
