One in four women experience violence in their homes. Have you ever asked, “Why doesn't she just leave?” Private Violence shatters the brutality of our logic and intimately reveals the stories of two women: Deanna Walters, who transforms from victim to survivor, and Kit Gruelle, who advocates for justice.

Director
This documentary, originally broadcast on the PBS series "P.O.V." ("Point of View"), explores three places considered sacred by American Indians: Devils Tower in Wyoming, the Colorado Plateau in the Southwest and Mount Shasta in California. The Lakota, Hopi and Wintu people who traditionally care for these areas still struggle to co-exist with non-Indians who have very different ideas about land, culture and what is sacred.
