In this hybrid of live-action and stop-motion animation, a young Hans Christian Andersen goes in search of knowledge in the Garden of Paradise in order to make his studies easier. Each time he falls asleep, he experiences in his dreams the different characters he would later write about in fairy tales including The Little Mermaid, Thumbelina and The Emperor's New Clothes.

Sam, o boneco de neve, conta a história do jovem Rudolph, uma rena de nariz vermelho que depois de ter sido expulsa pelas outras renas por causa de seu nariz brilhante junta-se a Hermey e Yukon Cornelius. Eles viajam para longe até o Abominável Homem das Neves, e encontram uma ilha cheia de brinquedos quebrados. Rudolph faz então uma promessa: voltar para o Pólo Norte e pedir para o Papai Noel ajudá-los.
