Em um vilarejo uruguaio em plena ditatura, Milo (Roberto Suárez) e Esnal (César Troncoso) são dois amigos inconformados e criativos que resolvem se rebelar contra as regras rígidas instauradas pelo novo coronel local sequestrando seu bem mais precioso: uma coleção de anões de jardim. A ação não é executada com perfeição e Milo acaba capturado pelos militares, o que leva sua família à derrocada e Esnal a se tornar recluso. Reanimado pelas filhas do amigo, no entanto, ele deixa a solidão de seu quartinho com um plano mirabolante.
