Noah, a young scientist shows off a new device that can take anyone who goes through it to alternate realities to Salome, a new friend he's made who happens to be a mute librarian, much to the disapproval of Melissa, her whip smart devil-may-care room mate. Everything goes great until one of them decides they'd be better off staying in the other reality.

Michael is a writer for Brimstone Magazine. A promotional opportunity comes up and Michael sees this as a way to prove himself as a top writer, and also pay his rent. After discovering that the elderly secretary of the magazine likes to summon a demon for company, Michael bases his article on that.
