A história se passa na Cidade Proibida (China), no ano 34 de Fukui, logo após a morte do 17º Imperador do Reino de Sokan. Suas 550 esposas vivem no Palácio Interior, localizado nos fundos do Palácio Imperial, mas, com sua morte, tudo precisou ser destruído. Por esta razão, todas as esposas tiveram que abandonar o local, exceto a Seihi (esposa de grau mais elevado), que viria a se tornar a Imperatriz Herdeira. Neste meio-tempo, até que o Príncipe seja indicado como o novo Imperador, o Palácio Interior se torna um antro repleto de conspirações visando a obtenção de poder. Começa, então, a busca por uma Seihi para o novo Imperador. Em um país assolado pela miséria, as condições oferecidas para as futuras mulheres do Imperador parecem ter caído do céu: direito a educação, 3 refeições diárias e mesmo uma reconfortante soneca.

When one of the biological experiments, BAOH, escapes with a young girl, Doress will do anything to get the boy and girl back. For BAOH is a parasite living in its host's brain, altering the host into a living death machine in order to keep it alive. When Doress sends assassins after the boy and girl, BAOH "awakens" to its "Armed Defense Phenomenons", giving the boy acid-tipped claws, bio-regeneration, and super-strength. But Doress takes the girl, and BAOH must fight an army of commandos and a psionic to get her back

On the planet Lotus, all is well. The reigning lord, Lord British, thinks of building a shrine or temple. The next day, as the generals and escorts prepare for the lord, the sun dies out, and is replaced by a burning, orange planet. This orange planet engulfs Lotus in light and causes havoc with the weather. Lord British then consults his advisory, an old, twin horned being. He identifies the planet as an inorganic star run by the invaders called bacterians, as told in the prophecy and seals of the planet. The weather worsens. Suddenly, a big serpent can be seen moving chaotically through magma.
