Many years after her notorious husband, Henry Fool, fled after killing a neighbor, Fay Grim receives a visit from CIA agent Fulbright, who tells her that Henry is dead, but that some of his journals have been unearthed in France. She sets forth on a globe-trotting odyssey that soon leads to the discovery that he is alive, and his journals are more than they appear to be.

É verão em Berlim. A enfermeira Nike e sua melhor amiga, Katrin, têm por hábito observar a vida passar da sacada de seu apartamento, esperando que alguma coisa aconteça com elas. É quando o calor típico da estação põe em movimento suas vidas e a de todos ao redor. Max, o filho adolescente de Katrin, tenta em vão conquistar uma amiga de colégio. Nike entra em uma arriscada relação com o caminhoneiro Ronald. E Katrin tem um colapso mental após uma tentativa de estupro frustrada. Prêmio de melhor roteiro no Festival de San Sebástian de 2005.
