Ruanda. Durante 30 anos, o governo de maioria Hutu perseguiu a minoria Tutsi. Pressionado pelo ocidente, o governo aceitou dividir o poder com os Tutsis, mesmo contra a vontade. Porém em 6 de abril de 1994 tem início um genocídio, que mata quase um milhão de pessoas em apenas 100 dias. Neste contexto um padre inglês e seu ajudante tentam fazer o que podem para ajudar a minoria Tutsi, mesmo tendo a opção de partirem para a Europa.
