Após ter sido acusado pela tentativa de assassinato do Raikage, e ter matado dois Jounins, Naruto é mandado para o Houzukijou, uma Prisão de Segurança Máxima, mais conhecida como Blood Prison (A Prisão de Sangue). O Diretor dessa Prisão, Mui, utiliza um jutsu supremo de confinamento, selando os poderes de todos os seus prisioneiros. Começa então a batalha para provar a inocência de Naruto e expor os segredos por de trás da Blood Prison.

Tudo começa quando Hitsugaya e a sua equipa estavam transportando um tesouro real chamado Ouin, até ser atacado por um grupo misterioso. O tesouro é roubado e Hitsugaya que no momento estava enfrentando o líder do grupo, desaparece. Dias depois, Ichigo que já havia sido informado do desaparecimento, encontra com Hitsugaya ferido, e sem querer dizer nada, Ichigo acaba tendo que lutar com Hitsugaya. No meio da batalha, um hollow aparece dizendo que veio buscar Hitsugaya Toshirou e o leva embora. Com isso, é enviado o 8º Capitão e a equipa de resgate de Hitsugaya para o mundo humano, mas eles são derrotados e o responsável foi o próprio Hitsugaya. Com este fato, é dada a ordem de execução de Hitsugaya Toshirou pela Soul Society.

Em Karakura, uma repentina eclosão de espíritos chamados "blanks" ocorreu, enquanto nos céus da Soul Society, o mundo real foi refletido. Uma misteriosa shinigami de nome Senna apareceu antes de Ichigo, juntamente com um homem chamado Ganryu, liderando um grupo nomeado os "Dark Ones".

The Kimagure Orange Road series centers on a teenage romantic triangle: Hikaru and Madoka were best friends until they fell for Kyosuke, an understated hero with psychic powers. In 1991, the 19-year-old Kyosuke is struck by car and propelled three years into the future, where he tries to understand the changes that have taken place in his world. Madoka and Hikaru have grown up to become a promising songwriter and a student of drama and dance, respectively; the older Kyosuke is a student-photographer on assignment in Bosnia. The problem of two Kyosukes coexisting is played for laughs, including a sequence where the 22-year-old Kyosuke counsels his younger self. The filmmakers expect the viewer to know the characters from the OAVs, although designs have been changed. The result is a Pax-style romantic fantasy, rather than a sci-fi adventure.
