Fleeing the wrath of man-eating vixens who've taken over the world, a ragtag caravan of refugees makes its way across the country to the relative safety of the West Coast. Asbrey de Westender é um grande e heroico cavaleiro que parte em busca de seus mais preciosos tesouros: sua honra e seu prestígio. Ele está em decadência e não sabe o que, misteriosamente, está contribuindo para isso. É no meio de dias turbulentos que, após beber muito, ele aposta seu último bem e o de maior valor: um anel. Ao perder tudo, ele começa a reavaliar o que aconteceu com sua vida e se decide a recuperar seus valores e suas posses, principalmente o anel de cavaleiro. Assim, ele parte numa jornada em que deverá enfrentar seus demônios internos e externos, além de alguns dos perigos dos quais jamais imaginou que enfrentaria, em uma busca que pode se tornar fatal.
