Paul Brickman

Paul Brickman (April 23, 1949) is an American screenwriter and film director, born in Chicago, Illinois. He is best known for the film Risky Business where he served as director and screenwriter.
Before transitioning to directing, Brickman began his career penning offbeat films such as The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training and Jonathan Demme's Handle with Care. In 1983 he made his directorial debut with Risky Business starring Tom Cruise. In 1990 he wrote and directed Men Don't Leave starring Jessica Lange, an adaptation of the 1982 French film La Vie Continue. Brickman is a graduate of Claremont McKenna College.

A Alemanha invade a Polônia em 1º de setembro de 1939 e isto marca o início da 2ª Guerra Mundial. Em menos de um mês a Polônia se rende e logo surge uma lista crescente de proibições e regras, que levaram ao virtual aprisionamento de meio milhão de judeus-poloneses em uma parte velha de Varsóvia, que ficou conhecido como o "Gueto de Varsóvia". O lugar logo se mostrou inadequado para alojar tantas pessoas. Além disto a comida era muito escassa, pois os nazistas reservaram para si 2617 calorias por dia, os poloneses tinham direito a 699 e os judeus apenas 184. A luta diária não era só contra a fome, mas também contra as doenças. Esta situação se agrava em 1942, com as "deportações diárias para o leste", que eram trens levando por dia seis mil judeus para os campos de concentração, onde eram executados em massa. Vendo que suas mortes eram apenas um questão de tempo, os judeus, liderados por Moredecai Anielewicz , fizeram a única coisa que os nazistas nunca esperaram: revidaram.
Screenplay
Na véspera da execução de um negro que foi condenado por ter assassinado uma branca grávida para lhe roubar 96 dólares, Michelle, uma repórter que iria entrevistar o réu no dia de sua morte e também estava autorizada a presenciar a execução, morre em um acidente. Em seu lugar é escalado Steve Everett e logo ele desconfia que o condenado é inocente, mas tem poucas horas para suspender a execução. Assim, Steve luta contra o tempo tentando evitar que uma injustiça seja cometida.
