Cliff (Steve Zahn) e Cydney (Milla Jovovich) estão em plena lua de mel, viajando pelo Havaí. No caminho eles encontram Kale (Chris Hensworth) e Cleo (Marley Shelton), um casal de mochileiros a quem, inicialmente, Cliff resolve dar carona. Um desentendimento faz com que o casal deixe o carro, o que gera uma inimizade entre eles. Ao chegar no hotel, Cliff e Cydney resolvem fazer uma excursão para uma praia remota, onde precisam seguir uma trilha. No caminho eles conhecem Nick (Timothy Olyphant), que os ajuda em um trecho difícil da trilha. Logo em seguida o trio encontra um grupo de jovens, que avisa do assassinato de um casal recém casado em Honolulu, ocorrido há poucos dias. Eles seguem viagem e logo encontram Gina (Kiele Sanchez), namorada de Nick. Só que alguns fatos fazem com que todos pareçam ser uma ameaça, gerando desconfiança entre os integrantes do grupo.
