K. Subrahmanyam Sethumadhavan was a multi award winning Indian director mainly active in the Malayalam film industry. He had also directed both critically acclaimed and commercially successful movies in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi apart from Malayalam. His best known works include 'Odayil Ninnu', 'Achanum Bappayum', 'Chattakari' and 'Oppol' in Malayalam, 'Marupakkam' and 'Nammavar' in Tamil, 'Stri' in Telugu and 'Julie' in Hindi. K.S. Sethumadhavan has also served as a member of the jury for national awards in 1975 and 1980 and as its chairman in 2002. He was awarded the J.C. Daniel award in recognition of his lifetime contribution to cinema by the government of Kerala in 2009.
