Rich L.A. party brat Tim spins into a cycle of despair after his parents divorce, and trying to fill the void with drugs and trouble only buys him a ticket to an asylum. A história se passa na década de 1910 em Nova York. Coalhouse Walker Jr. é um pianista negro. Ele ganhou fama e fortuna tocando com uma banda de jazz.
