Hanna foi criada nas terras geladas da Finlândia por seu pai, um ex-agente da CIA. Following her parents' wishes, spirited seventeen-year-old Effi Briest marries Baron von Innstetten – a former admirer of her mother – who is twenty years Effi's senior.
