Wong Kar Mun, é uma jovem chinesa levemente diferente da maioria: ela é cega desde os dois anos de idade. Acostumada ao breu que sempre impregnou sua vida como deficiente visual, ela decide fazer um transplante de córneas, para voltar a enxergar e, conseqüentemente, tornar-se mais independente. Entretanto, ela percebe que voltar a ver o mundo como ele realmente é pode não ser tão animador. Ainda não completamente adaptada à visão, ela enxerga formas e vultos que definitivamente não deveriam estar onde estão. Ela chega à conclusão, logo depois, de que o problema reside nas córneas e parte em busca do doador, ainda que burlando a ética da medicina.
