In a cold and remote landscape, two strangers struggle to repair their broken pasts. A young man is on parole after serving time for attempting to murder the man who killed his girlfriend in a hit and run. A woman is released from a psychiatric facility far from her homeland. These two damaged strangers cross paths in the mountains in winter and fall into a complex intimate relationship, putting to the test their capacity to trust and heal.

Al (Raphael Personnaz), traz um jovem de origem modesta que casou com a filha de seu patrão e vira herdeiro da empresa onde trabalha. Uma noite, após uma festa regada de muita bebida, ele acaba atropelando um desconhecido e, encorajado por seus amigos, não presta socorro ao ferido e foge. Mas o que Al ignora é que Juliette (Clotilde Hesme) viu o acidente de sua varanda e será uma testemunha essencial para que os culpados sejam punidos.

Adam e Mary são casados há muito tempo e a vida caiu numa rotina. Ele é um arquiteto de sucesso, mas acomodado. Ela, professora aposentada, pensa em fazer filantropia. No fundo, os dois estão cansados um do outro. Os filhos, quando percebem isso, tentam salvar o casamento dos pais.

Com o propósito de se tornar sócia de uma lanchonete com o namorado belga, a jovem albanesa Lorna vira cúmplice de um plano diabólico encabeçado pelo mafioso Fabio. Fabio orquestra um casamento arranjado entre a moça e um de seus capangas, Claudy, pois assim Lorna poderá obter sua cidadania belga. Passado algum tempo ela terá de se casar novamente, agora com um mafioso russo disposto a pagar muito dinheiro para também conquistar sua cidadania. Mas para que esse segundo casamento seja possível, Fabio tem um plano de assassinar Claudy. E Lorna deverá manter-se em silêncio sobre esse crime.

It is 1961 and an Albanian student (Nik Xhelilaj) of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, together with a group of Czech students, is shooting his graduate movie on a motorcycle factory, in the small market-town of Český Šternberk, in then Czechoslovakia. Coming from a country that is completely isolated from the rest of Europe, he is fascinated by the lifestyle, society and "erotic exuberance" of the Czech golden youth, yet feeling strong links with his family in his homeland. He falls in love with a married woman (Anna Geislerová), the wife of a police superintendent (Paolo Buglioni) and is insecure about his future.

During the riots of 1997 in Albania the retired photographer PETRO travels from his hometown Gjirokastra to the capital Tirana. He has taken pictures of a killing with his Super-8-camera and wants to get the film developed. Petro doesn't know that he shot material that shows how a TV-camera causes the death of a man and his granddaughter in order to get a good story. Unfortunately Petro meets this cameraman - BERTI - on the trip to Tirana. When the film is finally developed Petro gets to know the truth - and he knows his life is in danger! After many adventures on the road he tries at last to present the film to the public. But he must realize that the material was stolen. So only Petro knows the truth while the media spread lies about the deaths of Girokastra.
