Gloria Josephine Mae Swanson (Chicago, 27 de março de 1899 — Nova Iorque, 4 de abril de 1983) foi uma atriz estadunidense. Estreou no cinema, como figurante, no filme The Song of Soul, em 1914. Atuou em diversas comédias de Mack Sennett e, nos anos 1920, já era uma estrela do cinema mudo. Em 1922, atuou no filme mudo Beyond the Rocks, com Rodolfo Valentino, filme que esteve perdido durante muito tempo e só foi reeencontrado em 2004, numa coleção privada na Holanda. Personificou mulheres extravagantes e seguras, que agiam segundo os seus sentimentos e a sua lógica. Como estrela importante de Hollywood, conseguiu manter a popularidade com o advento do cinema sonoro, com filmes como The Trespasser (1929) e What a Widow! (1930).

He finally released a 52-minute feature called The Film Parade that was shown in New York and favorably reviewed by "Variety" in 1933. The House That Shadows Built (1931) is a short feature, roughly 48 minutes long, from Paramount Pictures made to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the studio's founding in 1912. It was a promotional film for exhibitors and never had a regular theatrical release and includes a brief history of Paramount, interviews with various actors, and clips from upcoming projects (some of which never came to fruition). The title comes from a biography of Paramount founder Adolph Zukor, The House That Shadows Built (1928), by William Henry Irwin.
