Nakahara Hitomi (中原ひとみ), nome artístico da atriz Tsuchiya Riko (土家里子), nasceu na Cidade de Taito, em Tóquio, a 22 de julho de 1936. Abandonou os estudos na Universidade Feminina Kyoritsu, localizada na Cidade de Chiyoda, em Tóquio, para tentar a carreira artística, participando de um teste de novos talentos dos Estúdios Toei, e estreando no filme "Uogashi no Ishimatsu"(魚河岸の石松) em 1954. Ganhou fama em 1957 com o filme "História de Um Amor Puro", onde interpretava a personagem principal, ao lado do ator Ebara Shinjiro, com quem se casou em 1960. Ambos tiveram uma longa carreira no cinema, Hitomi passou a fazer atuações para a televisão em 1963 e no teatro a partir de 1979.
