Donkeys
Alfred is 64. He's lost touch with his family and a threat to his health makes him realise he wants to make amends. The more he tries to do right, the more he does wrong, and as his past comes back to haunt him, he is forced to face up to what his life means to him. Rounding Up Donkeys is the second film in Sigma and Zentropa's three feature film concept 'Advance Party'.
Stark Love
"Man is absolute ruler. Woman is working slave.” Such are the rigid attitudes framing this tale of a country boy’s beliefs about chivalry that lead him to try to escape a brutal father with the girl he loves
Porky's Pooch
A dog named Rover explains to a black, down-on-his-luck shaggy dog named Andy how he got his master. He went into a hotel room and bothered someone taking a bath--Porky Pig. Porky doesn't want Rover as a pet, no matter how many times Rover tries to make Porky adopt him.
Fetch!
A man plays fetch with his dog, only to have both him and his dog mired in a series of optical illusions.
Patient Porky
Porky checks into a hospital with a tummyache; he has the bad luck to encounter a patient posing a "Dr. Chilled-Air" who is a bit too eager to operate.
Stepping Out
A couple's untraditional early morning ritual is observed in a short drama which originally supported Polanski's The Tenant in UK cinemas.
Springtime
In this one, Farmer Al Falfa and Henry the Cat go down to beach, where Al is singularly unsuccessful in impressing the pretty young ladies.
Adolf Hitler - My Part in His Downfall
London, 1940. Aspiring jazz musician and future comedy legend Terence "Spike" Milligan reluctantly obeys his call-up and joins the Royal Artillery regiment at Bexhill, where he begins training to take part in the War. But along the way Spike and his friends get involved in many amusing - and some not-so amusing - scrapes. A film adaptation of the first volume of Spike Milligan's war diaries.
Dawn
Szirtes's masterful experimental work is a dazzling composition of several years of filming within an industrial macro/microcosm, an abstract model of revolution and the beauty of daybreak.
The Fable of the Jolly Rounders
An Aesop's Fables cartoon about a hippo who had a few too many to drink, resulting in his wife kicking him out of the house. To win her back, the hippo conjures up a plan to make her jealous.
Murnau's 4 Devils: Traces of a Lost Film
Reconstruction with photographies of the lost film 4 devils.
Agony of Love
A bored housewife rents an apartment where she indulges in all of her sexual fantasies.
Working Surface: A Short Study (with Actors) in the 'Ways' of a Bourgeois Writer
Bill Douglas plays a writer struggling with a script about the interior lives of two women (played by Joanna David and Heather Page).
Swing Cleaning
Gabby is a servant in a castle and is required to do a little housework.
I Love a Parade
A circus parade, to the title tune. Next, a series of sideshow acts: the wild boy, the rubber man, siamese twin pigs, a tattooed man, a hula-dancing hippo, an Indian snake (or goat) charmer. Into the ring, we have a hippo riding a horse (much to the horse's dismay), a high-wire act (again, to the title song), and finally a lion tamer.
The City Dark
THE CITY DARK is a feature documentary about the loss of night. After moving to NYC from rural Maine, filmmaker Ian Cheney asks a simple question - do we need the stars? - taking him from Brooklyn to Mauna Kea, Paris, and beyond. Exploring the threat of killer asteroids in Hawaii, tracking hatching turtles along the Florida coast, and rescuing injured birds on Chicago streets, Cheney unravels the myriad implications of a globe glittering with lights - including increased breast cancer rates from exposure to light at night, and a generation of kids without a glimpse of the universe above. Featuring stunning astrophotography and a cast of eclectic scientists, THE CITY DARK is the definitive story of light pollution and the disappearing stars. Written by Wicked Delicate Films
Rafferty and the Gold Dust Twins
Hapless driving instructor and former Gunnery Sergeant Rafferty, living in squalor near Hollywood, California, doesn't put up too much of a fight when two ladies hitch a ride and attempt to kidnap him in their attempt to get to New Orleans; while initially put off, Rafferty finds he's charmed by the kooky pair of misfits and the three of them drive to Las Vegas, Nevada and later Tucson, Arizona, where their bond eventually unravels.
9 Variations on a Dance Theme
Bettie de Jong performs the same dance nine times, starting and ending in a reclined position. As the film proceeds the camera becomes more and more adventurous.
