Cheap Trick: Live in Australia
The Illinois power-pop quartet of vocalist/guitarist Robin Zander, lead guitarist Rick Nielsen, bass guitarist Tom Petersson, and drummer Bun E. Carlos, the most famous hard rock band to come out of the American Midwest, are in full flight as they perform at the Hordern Pavillion Sydney, 1988, before a raving capacity crowd. Heavily influencing alternative and heavy metal bands of the '80s and '90 with their catchy power pop melodies and arena rock aesthetic, Cheap Trick are showcased here at the peak of their career.
Paul McCartney: The McCartney Years
The McCartney Years is a three-DVD set featuring music videos, live performances and other rare footage from Paul McCartney's solo career and Wings. The set spans the years 1970 to 2005 The first two discs comprise promotional films, from "Maybe I'm Amazed" (1970) to "Fine Line" (2005). Additional features include a documentary about his recent album Chaos and Creation in the Backyard (Creating Chaos at Abbey Road), a film about the Band on the Run album and a feature-length audio commentary from McCartney himself. The third disc includes seven songs from the 1976 Wings concert Rockshow, four songs from McCartney's 1991 appearance on MTV Unplugged, and eleven performances from his 2004 set at Glastonbury Festival. The live footage is also complemented by an optional commentary by McCartney. Other features includes his appearance at Live Aid in 1985, the Super Bowl XXXIX Halftime Show and interviews with Melvyn Bragg and Michael Parkinson.
The Beatles: The Complete Story
This remarkable five DVD box set and bonus CD take the viewer on a journey from the early days of the Cavern Club to the worldwide superstardom of John Paul George and Ringo. Its release is perfectly timed for the recent resurgence of interest in the early history of the band following the film Nowhere Boy which delves into John Lennon's teen years. The boxed set contains rare film newsreel and performance footage mostly unseen photographs and interviews and two compelling documentaries about John Lennon and George Harrison. Both films - John Lennon: The Messenger and George Harrison: The Quiet One - are a 'must see' for any Beatles fan. Tony Sheridan is a British singer-songwriter and guitarist most famous for his performances in Hamburg with backing band The Beat Brothers. No prizes for guessing who they eventually became! Paul McCartney considered Sheridan their 'teacher'. The CD contains rare recordings of The Beatles performing together with Tony Sheridan.
Meat Loaf - Hits out of Hell
Though Hits out of Hell shares the title of Meat Loaf's 1984 greatest hits album, the tracklisting is not quite the same: curiously, the DVD omits "Dead Ringer for Love", "Midnight at the Lost and Found" and "All Revved Up with No Place to Go", but includes, perhaps by way of compensation, "More Than You Deserve" and "If You Really Want To". Such considerations are, of course, of only superficial importance: once producer and songwriter Jim Steinman had patented the Meat Loaf template on 1977's 30-million-selling Bat Out of Hell--an engagingly preposterous synthesis of Springsteen's Born to Run, Spector's Be My Baby, Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries",. On the DVD: This DVD offers a choice of Dolby Surround Sound or PCM Stereo, and has a refreshingly simple and easy to navigate menu offering instant access to different tracks. The special features are desultory in the extreme: a brief biography of the Meat Loaf phenomenon and a discography.
The Angels: Greatest Hits
Deluxe CD/ DVD version of The Angels' classic GREATEST HITS collection, the monster selling anthology of all of their biggest hits. Includes 18 hits on the CD and 39 killer videos on the DVD.
Billy Joel - The Ultimate Collection
With over 100 million albums sold in the course of a career now in its fourth decade, Billy Joel is one of the most beloved entertainers in the world. Now, for the first time on DVD, a comprehensive selection of Billy's innovative, visually compelling music videos have been brought together for The Ultimate Collection. A stunning group of videos and special live performances spanning the entire career of this Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame honouree. The Ultimate Collection showcases the thoughtful lyrics and musical sophistication that make Billy Joel a legend of American music. Whether you're a long-time Billy Joel fan or looking for an introduction to the man and his work, The Ultimate Collection is a great addition to your DVD library. Bonus tracks include the MTV favourite "She's Right On Time" and a rare early promotional video of "James", both previously unavailable on home video.
