Структурно «Зимние дни» делится на 36 различных эпизодов, каждый из которых является своего рода экранизацией одного из стихотворений, составляющих одноименный поэтический цикл Мацуо Басё, написанный в форме рэнку (то есть последняя строчка предыдущего стихотворения является первой для последующего).

In the original short film, a young man in a green wizard costume runs throughout America at super speed, much like the superhero The Flash. Along the way, he gives a pretty girl a swift lift to another city, gives golden stars to other women who want a trip themselves. He then slips on a banana peel and comically crashes into a film stage, which he then brings to life in magical ways.

A toy stuffed dog has just been sewn together when it hears a young child ask for an orange. The child's mother explains that they have no money, and so she cannot buy any oranges. The dog is then packed up along with a box full of other toys to be sold, but it soon winds up in the street. The dog picks up an orange from a curb side stand, and hopes to take it home to the child. But that night, before the dog can get back to the child's home, it must face a series of strange and frightening adventures.

In the kingdom of animals, Master Fox is used to trick and fool everyone. So the King, the Lion, receives more and more complaints about him. He orders that Master Fox is arrested and brought to him.

A partly-animated short film, a fairy-tale-like telling of why the nightingale only sings at night. A young girl who has caught a nightingale dreams about the songbird and its mate, and comes to realize that birds are not meant to be captive.

A Father Christmas ornament climbs down from a decorated tree, and goes to the forest. There he creates and decorates a Christmas tree for the forest creatures. He then invites all the insects, along with a friendly frog, to come and enjoy the gifts he has prepared, and to celebrate Christmas.

The Country Rat visits his friend the Town Rat, but finds that life in the great metropolis is rather too hectic (and dangerous - there's a live cat among all the puppet rodents!)

Follow Robbie as he sets out to discover a mythical tribe of lost Viking warriors to help him save his friends from another dastardly plot by the evil Blitzen and his new-found partner-in-crime The White Rabbit. Robbie is having girl trouble too - Donner is feeling neglected and decides to give Robbie an ultimatum. По мотивам руских народных сказок. Жили-были царь с царицей и был у них сын Иван-Царевич. И все бы было хорошо, если бы одним утром не пришел Иван к родителям и не рассказал им о своей Ненаглядной Красе, про которую ему няньки пели, а теперь каждый день снится. И хочет он идти по белу свету Красу Ненаглядную искать. Пошел Иван-Царевич, а в дороге встретился ему разбойник Булат, который и стал ему побратимом. Стали они вместе Красу искать и нашли. А оказалось, что она Кащея Бессмертного невеста, которая никак не хотела ему покориться. Тут Иван-Царевич с Булатом Кащея победили, а Красу Ненаглядную и Марьюшку, служанку Кощееву, вызволили. И привезли их в царские палаты, а царь на радостях две свадьбы сыграл.

Крокодил Гена выясняет, что Чебурашка не умеет читать и хочет устроить его в школу. Им неожиданно помогает старуха Шапокляк, которая устраивает срочное завершение ремонта школы к первому сентября. Крокодил Гена становится преподавателем по живой природе.
