Маленькая турецкая деревушка неподалеку от Эгейского моря. Здесь выращивают табак и это единственный способ обеспечить своё существование. Главными ценностями в этом регионе являются не деньги, а вода и женщины. Воду здесь называют кровью земли, ибо пресная вода — редкий гость этого региона, а женщин гораздо меньше, чем мужчин. В таком вот обществе в очень засушливое лето разворачивается трагическая история двух братьев. Осман, старший брат, обнаруживает на своем участке источник пресной воды. Постепенно он его разрабатывает и пускает течение вниз, в остальную часть деревни, помогая своим соседям. Всё бы хорошо, но в один день в его голову взбрела мысль перекрыть источник и собирать воду в самодельные резервуары, а своих соседей оставить без надежды на будущее.
