The Real Ann Lister (2010)

Matthew Hill directs this portrait of Anne Lister, an early 19th century Englishwoman who broke many of the stereotypes associated with the women of the era. Lister kept a diary that would eventually contain more than 4,000,000 words documenting her travels and experiences as a lesbian in Yorkshire society. Interestingly, some of the passages are written in code; when deciphered, they reveal the details of Lister's many love affairs with women.
