In a country in Southern Italy, on the border between Campania and Lucania, a baron reduced to poverty tries to give order to events: what has happened in recent years? It all seems to have started with the double disappearance of a woman and her elderly husband during a magic show. Stories and memories stratify and interpenetrate each other, leading to the political and temporal collapse of that magical world, which fades into an indistinct memorial abyss and fades into an underground escape, in time.

Isaac is a young musician, influenced by his father and his surroundings. He falls into an existential crisis and decides to get distance from his environments and surroundings which are keeping him away from being himself and from fulfilling his dream: to compose. He takes the opportunity to go to Sardinia, to live in S'Archittu, in a house on the cliffs, next to a house that has been unoccupied for a long time. During the 1940's the house was inhabited by a young piano player named Sophia. Isaac discovers her story, and it helps him get inspired and grow personally.

The double meaning in french of film title MINEURS resume the sense of the film: mineurs as children and as mineworkers in the coalmines. Italy, at the beginning of the sixties. In a little village in Lucanie, little region in the south, four children live in a situation of absolute poverty, but with their plays in the street succeed in living in happiness. In the air the menace and, in the same time, the hope of a telephonic convocation by their relatives, already at work in coalmines in Belgie, in the mine district of Limburg. Two of our children leave with their families, to reach the numerous Italian community of Flandres. The children will have a lot of problems, in the school and with the language, to integrate in a hostile ambient, but, at the end the will succeed.

The film tells the true story of a poor peasant woman in the 1600s who lived in an isolated cave in the Val di Non. Accused of witchcraft by the townspeople, the woman is taken to Palazzo Nero, where under torture she admits her guilt and implicates her accusers in revenge for their wickedness. Condemned to death, she refuses to repent, and for this reason is burnt at the stake in the town’s square.

A young little orphan loses herself in the Woods of Vain Things. In her journey, she finds an old log cabin: it is soon revealed to be the dwelling of Gilbert, the prize-builder, victim of a strange spell.

Doctor Zacchìa is the headmaster of a medicine and natural science school, where official subjects together with unusual disciplines are taught, for example, thanatology, apocryphal zoology and taxidermic sculpture. Zacchìa usually rents out an old house to some of his students he selects with particular care, considering their nature and ambitions. Among these students, there are Tadeusz and Berenice, a young couple obsessed with spontaneous generation and the creation of a human being from nothing; Nataniele, a researcher of angels who is grappling with an apple coming from the same tree that originated the sin; Cassandra, a young victim of a peculiar case of apparent death; Giona, an artist who is fond of collecting objects and creating a wunderkammer; and Rebecca, an old toys restorer. Doctor Zacchìa Follows the students' inclinations with great attention, trying to support them in their interests. But the doctor is a keeping a secret!
