За несколько дней до Рождества у путешествующего по стране певца Марка ломается фургончик. Причём, ломается ни где-нибудь, а в туманной, лесисто-болотистой местности. Возникший из ниоткуда некий странный тип проводит Марка до ближайшей захудалой ночлежки. Хозяин сдаёт Марку комнату на ночь и обещает помочь с починкой фургона. Кроме всего прочего, он наказывает ни при каких обстоятельствах не посещать близлежащую деревню.
