Based on the only extensive prose work by the surrealist painter Josef Capek, Shades of Fern most resembles the philosophical fairy tales and fables of Josef’s older brother, the legendary Czech novelist and playwright Karel Capek. Two young poachers, more boys than men, kill a gamekeeper when they are caught illegally hunting. Panicked, they retreat into a forest that grows steadily more forbidding and deadly as their fear for the future—and guilt over their action—mounts. Loosely based on hundreds of oral folk tales and legends that haunt the woods of Czechoslovakia, Vlácil’s contemporary updating artistically underscores the relationship between man and nature, crime and punishment, isolation and society, and guilt and memory.

It's no big secret that twelve-year-old Hannes is in love with his classmate Carolin, who he compares to a beautiful white cloud in the sky. The content of the film covers a large period from the pagan times to these days. The facts are grouped under several general headings (paganry, the spread of Christianity, renaissance, baroq and modern times) with allusions to the modern life of Prague and Praguers that has its roots in those times.

A psychological drama exploring the notion of the doctor as a moral authority, who within the framework of their everyday work must face questions of life and death. The film is adapted from a novel by Valja Stýblová, in which the author draws upon her personal experiences as a former neurosurgeon. The protagonist of this drama is an ageing professor, based at a Prague neurological clinic, who is haunted by issues concerning his own principles and values, and also by the case of a young patient, Víťa, afflicted with an inoperable tumour.

Taxi driver Koukal (Miroslav Machácek) is stopped by the police for a routine traffic check. In the boot of his car the police find the body of a naked man. Koukal is arrested even though he claims he knows nothing about it. The case is assigned to Major Mlynár (Milan Sandhaus). The police identify the corpse as that of an Austrian citizen called Mitrik. Koukal has been regularly driving people interested in gambling to a secret gaming den. The police are put onto the gambling den by another taxi driver, who admits that he drove Mitrik there. Mlynár and officer cadet Pecka (Ivan Vyskocil) feign interest in gambling and visit the gaming den incognito.

A picture of generational confrontations between children and parents. A young and ambitious violin virtuoso, Peter, lives in long-lasting conflicts with his father. Only after his death Peter realizes how much he had been hurting his father. Still, not even the tragedy can make a change in his shallow life in stereotype.

Sherlock Holmes likes to play violin and expects a great career in music. He gets a place in a spa orchestra, but he is again and again distracted by criminal cases. Therefore he is the only one who does not see that his violin has no future. He solves the criminal mysteries in passing but the final test shows that the famous detective is tone-deaf.

Kinoautomat was the world's first interactive movie, conceived by Radúz Činčera for the Czechoslovak Pavilion at Expo '67 in Montreal. At nine points during the film the action stops, and a moderator appears on stage to ask the audience to choose between two scenes; following an audience vote, the chosen scene is played.

A story of a man threatened by a fatal illness evaluating his life (the number 322 in the film title stands for the diagnosis of one kind of cancer). He understands his illness as a form of punishment for his cruel deeds in the 1950s. In the face of reality and his efforts to cleanse himself he hits a barrier of indifference, lack of interest, and individual and collective selfishness. He has to find his own reconciliation with his illness and his past and present life.

The half-ruined house that he enters reminds Lemuel of his childhood and brings up a painful memory of a dearly loved girl Markéta who was drowned years ago. Gulliver finds himself in Balnibarbi, a country where he doesn't understand the laws and habits and so continually offends against public decency. It is a day when people are ordered to keep their mouths shut and they force their visitor to follow suit. He faces harsh interrogation and finds it difficult to explain that he is not the rabbit Oscar whose watch has been found in his possession.

This film brings us back to show us the life of the famous ancient sage Aesop, who helped people with his wisdom in their struggle for freedom and happiness.

Endangered man fortunately never notice danger around him. His protection was entrusted to the mysterious madame Elizabeth, amongst agents famed as the ' 006, in fact, working for the State security... As a parody, perhaps the movie succeeded, but hardly convincing anyone - and this is despite scriptwriting participation of the renowned Jan Procházka.

Michal's father and his friends are stigmatized by their war experience and the post-war social deformations in which they took part either directly, or watched them cowardly and in silence. They are trying to repress their feelings of guilt and justify their behavior to the young generation with memories of their heroic war feats. Michal, however, does not want to have anything to do with their problems. He subconsciously perceives the unpleasant atmosphere in the family as well as his father's hypocrisy. After one of many quarrels with his father, he runs away from home, determined to go his own way.

Однажды ее вызывают в Мюнхен, где ведется следствие по делу бывшего коменданта лагеря. Влачилова - единственный свидетель убийства военнопленных. Она собралась в путь, но в последний момент отдала свой билет другой женщине. В пути эта женщина оказалась убитой. После этого случая Влачилова отказалась ехать в Мюнхен, тем более что ее показания на судебном процессе могли бы повредить карьере мужа ее дочери, которая живет в Западной Германии.

По одноименной новелле Ленки Гашковой. Директор большой электростанции Кудрна оказался на скамье подсудимых. Он и два его бывших подчиненных обвиняются в расхищении государственных средств. Оба бывших сотрудника Кудрны приписывали незаконные премиальные и брали часть себе. Кудрна не знал об этом. Выдавая рабочим как поощрение премии и награды, Кудрна смог быстрее закончить строительство и сэкономить обществу во много раз большую сумму, чем та, за которую его посадили на скамью подсудимых. Однако суд признает Кудрну виновным и приговаривает к трехмесячному заключению, которое тот уже отбыл в тюрьме во время следствия. Но сам Кудрна не согласен с решением суда, он считает себя невиновным.

Действие начинается в июле 2163 года, когда экипаж из сорока человек корабля «Икар» отправляется в сторону планет звезды Альфа Центавра. Такому большому человеческому коллективу в замкнутом пространстве корабля угрожают непредвиденные психологические конфликты. Через четыре месяца начинается проявление отчётливой усталости и даже страха перед пустотой космоса. Но вдруг опасность мобилизует всех: на пути «Икара» появляется летающий объект.

Когда до конца войны остаются считанные дни, чешский партизан Павел получает тяжёлое ранение, и его отправляют в госпиталь. Там, иногда приходя в сознание, Павел вспоминает прошлое. И в веренице воспоминаний о борьбе с нацистами ему не дает покоя одно. Его мучит мысль, что командир немецких карателей, Энгельхен, лично ответственный за ужасы, которые пережил он и его товарищи — те, которые смогли пережить — всё ещё жив. Жизнь в Павеле поддерживает страстное желание — отомстить любой ценой.

Фильм повествует о конфликте свободы и фанатичного догматизма. В стародавние времена тот красивый край был под властью регента, крепостные люди работали на него в поле с утра до ночи. Однако среди них был и свободный народ. Старый мельник с сыном жил поодаль от деревни, про них болтали, что те якобы якшаются с темными силами, и в огне не горят, и вода у них не замерзает, колдовство мол это все. Мельник, когда не было работы, ходил по полям и горам, слушал землю, внимал звукам и голосам природы, знал много, еще больше умалчивал. В ту пору к регенту был послан высокопоставленный иезуит тайно в простой рясе капеллана, разведать вольнодумные настроения в народе и пресечь еретиков...

Молодой врач Мирек Водак по окончании института неохотно едет работать в небольшое село Лужаны. Он надеется скоро вернуться в город, но, поработав в деревне, Водак понял, что работать интереснее всего там, где ты и твои знания людям нужнее.
