Самосожжение философа Рышарда Сивца в знак протеста против вторжения в Чехословакию, жестокое подавление армией забастовок в Гданьске в декабре 1970 года с помощью тяжелых пулеметов — все это склоняет уже полковника Рышарда Куклинского использовать хорошие связи в советских и польских военных кругах и доступ к совершенно секретным документам «в мирных целях», добровольно предложив сотрудничество с Центральным разведывательным управлением США.

After his suicide, the protagonist takes over the draft, which he publishes outside of censorship under his name, thanks to which he gains fame, fame and money. August '80 breaks out....
