Twelve-year-old Jana returns from the hospital. She notices some changes at home and is worried that her parents are going to divorce. In reality, however, they are expecting another child.

A worker steals bits and pieces of building materials from work to construct a new home for himself and his girlfriend. When he discovers that she’s having an affair with his boss, he devises one elaborate plot after another to murder the rival, each time with pathetic results.

Eight-year old Dominique has a name-day. Her parents have a gift for her, but only give it to her in the evening, when everybody has come home from work. Then she darts out, where her girlfriends are already waiting for her.

It is the summer holiday and little Mísa Horák has taken a few animals from the school's so-called "Corner of Living Nature" home to care for. But when he brings home two Angora rabbits, a starling, a little monkey, a tortoise and a small crocodile, his parents order him to take them away. He is helped by Káta, who offers to place the animals in the child's room of her family's apartment. Mísa leaves for her friend where the animals will hopefully be able to stay. Káta goes shopping. In the meantime, Káta's younger sister Minka wakes up and begins to play with the animals, who gradually run off in disarray.

A group of jolly young people work in the Prague Tesla factory, also spending most of their leisure time together. One of them, guitar player Zdenek, begins to shun his friends' company. He has fallen in love with Vera, who does not belong to the group. The happy-go-lucky young man already has several acquaintances and has his own method to get a girl: to take his motorcycle, his guitar and a bottle of wine and take her to a rented houseboat. Vera, however, is different and gets angry at Zdenek. But she is fond of him and thus eventually spends a whole evening with him on the houseboat. At a preventative medical examination, the doctor tells Vera she is pregnant.

Действие картины происходит в районе проведения маневров военных. Герой картины сержант Милан, заводит знакомство с Еленой Бушковой, приехавшей из Праги, и искренне в неё влюбляется. Елена же оказывается прожженным агентом иностранных спецслужб и старается через Милана осуществить его вербовку и добыть необходимую информацию военного значения. В районе проведения маневров свои сети широко расставило гнездо шпионов. Между тем, органы государственной безопасности Социалистической Чехословацкой Республики с особой бдительностью защищают родные рубежи.

Фильм рассказывает о жизни на бедных словацких холмах, лазах, где сельское хозяйство находится на примитивном уровне и где поля дают скудный урожай. Социалистическая индустриализация тех дней, о которых рассказывается в киноленте достигла поразительного роста. Поэтому необходимо было решить проблему мелких фермеров на бедных фермах и нехватки рабочей силы на постоянно растущих промышленных предприятиях. Фильм о судьбе Матея Рендека, который возвращается в Словакию после 18 лет, проведённых в Америке, и о судьбе его семьи, годами трудившейся на бедных полях, показывает, как должна решаться эта проблема: на склонах создается кооператив, который с помощью машин может лучше справляться с сельскохозяйственными работами и при значительно меньшем количестве рабочих.

В основу фильма положены события, связанные с постройкой крупной ирригационной плотины в горах Словакии. В одном из глухих местечек, где люди веками привыкли подчиняться старосте, ксендзу и кулаку, начинается стройка. Появляются новые люди, а с ними и новое отношение к жизни. Несмотря на противодействие кулаков, мечтающих о возращении старых порядков, постройка плотины успешно завершается.

A drama about Slovaks who emigrated before WW I. It is focused on the life of Ondrej Muranica. He emigrates to America because of the hard life that is partly caused by Hungarian landowners. His dreams and hopes for a happier life are destroyed by a disaster in the mines where he works. Ondrej is declared missing.Years later he returns to his home country and finds out his wife married his best friend.

Inspector Cadek from the 13th police station should keep an eye on the released safe-cracker nicknamed The Cat. He rightly suspects that Cat will go and pick up his last loot which the police didn't manage to find and that he will want revenge on Karta who helped get him behind bars. At the hospital, Cat's ex-lover Fróny hopelessly falls for doctor Chrudimský and decides to start a new life. She still refuses to help the inspector in his search for The Cat and Karta.

Leopold Kohák married a rich widow a long time ago and now has nothing to do compared to his energetic wife. He's growing old and troubled by the fact that he betrayed his first love Emča and his beloved river Sázava where he spent his childhood and youth. A visit from an old friend Lebeda brings it all back to him. After a nervous breakdown Leopold secretly visits his home instead of going to the spa. A wandering tramp suggest Leopold should bathe in the magical waters of the Sázava, and slowly his youth returns to him.
