В 1984-ом фильм получил главный приз, как документальный фильм на фестивале Сандэнс. В 2003 фильм был вновь продемонстрирован на фестивале Tribeca в Нью-Йорке и международном кинематографическом фестивале в Эдинбурге, где вызвал огромный ажиотаж у публики и кинокритиков. После показа видео, хронометраж которого чуть больше часа, в эфире британского канала Four, мир впервые узнал о феномене граффити культуры Нью-Йорка. Урбанистический пейзаж города был изменён граффити-художниками, которые создали новый визуальный язык, для передачи как своей индивидуальности, так и сути своей субкультуры. Фильм рассказывает о подземке города Нью-Йорк, как о месте творческих сражений граффити райтеров. В качестве оппозиции молодым вандалам в видео представлены мэр Нью-Йорка Эдвард Коч, полиция и Ассоциация перевозок метрополитена.
