To the intolerant and bloody-minded Prague actor Bergner (Milos Kopecký) is the lead in Moliere's Misanthrope which he is studying now as tailor-made. On top of that he is malicious and he advises to the new actress Helenka (Dagmar Havlová) in such a way that she upsets the theatre director. If Bergner accuses somebody of a mischief and he is wrong, he never apologizes. When he almost crashes an older elegant lady by his car on the zebra crossing, instead of an apology he calls her an old ballet dancer... But in Brno's TV he takes part in a discussion on manners and he gives himself as an example of good manners and grace. In the train he meets a magic old man (Ladislav Pesek) who warns him and admonishes him to change his behavior. After he arrives to Prague the old man's threat comes true.

The film is a metaphor for the Cold War. It depicts two neighbouring nations: peace loving Fortuna and the not so peaceful land of the Steel City.

The director of films for kids called Bonzurka together with her loyal assistants Drahuska and Honza are looking for the actors for a new movie "The Knee". Children for this movie should not be afraid and shy and they must have talent for acting. Thus the scouting is quite difficult. The most difficult is to find an actress for a main character who lost her hair after a serious illness and now has to spent the whole holiday in the countryside with a bald head resembling a knee. Although the makeup artist does his best an artificial baldness does not solve anything. From the selected little girls only the self-assertive Rosemary has the guts to let her long hair to be cut and shave off her head.

The fisherman Fuksa fishes in the creek an old bottle and he sells it to innkeeper Merta. When Merta opens it, a genie appears, who can fulfill all his wishes.

It is the summer of 1968 and also in South Moravian Pálavice appear political clashes. The so far peacefully farming Unified farmers' cooperative starts splitting. Some of the farmers have found the cooperative called Vidrupa and want to deal with wine in private trade. Michal Janák, chairman of the farmers' cooperative is a deliberate man and refuses the latent return to the capitalism. As an excellent farmer he continues preparing planting out new vineyards. His adversaries do not agree - the returns will come many years later. Jozka Hrdlicka, an émigré, notices on the Austrian TV the interview with the representatives of Vidrupa and decides to visit his native village. The new suit and the hired car transform the bankrupt and criminal to the successful businessman with wine.

It is 1905. The police director gets Jindrich Legenda (Eduard Cupák) shadowed as, yet Legenda had served his sentence for a burglary, the jewels have not been found. Russian revolution encouraged also Czech workers to fight for their rights. Radical anarchists are followed by Legenda's friend Karel Wohryzek (Vladimír Mensík) who was forced to collaborate with the police as he was convicted of pornography distribution.

The life of the famous French writer Alexander Dumas the Elder. Screenwriter Jaroslav Dietl did not hide his admiration for this literary giant, and in addition to the screenplay he also wrote a three-part TV play about Dumas (starring Vladimír Menšík). In Kachyn's film, Dumas played the father and son of the Štěpánková brothers, and it was a very difficult and difficult task for these young actors.

Kastl is a hairdresser but his real passion is his second job as football referee. This job takes all his free time and makes his wife very nervous.

Marek (Jirí Holý), formerly a driver of a long-distance lorry, has served his term for smuggling art works abroad and is released from jail. Marek finds Hess and tells him that now he expects the gang to compensate him for the wasted years of his life.

In the Prague Old Town and the adjoining streets there is always plenty of life. Housewives shop, beggars arouse sympathy, the Salvation Army tries to put the godless on the road to salvation by hymns and sermons, and Ferdys Pistora hunts in the pockets of his fellow men and isn't even put off by the presence of an officer of the law. Ferdys sets off to burgle villa of the banker Rosenstok, but a fire breaks out in the house and Ferdys ends up saving the banker's two small children. For this he is celebrated as a hero and gets a place as an errand boy with the Rosenstoks. At home he is visited by representatives of the Salvation Army, Captain Kosterka and Terezka, with whom Ferdys instantly falls in love.

An escort composed of three people transports a huge amount of new one-hundred crown banknotes in a special railway car. At the 196th kilometer, a village girl is waiting at the railway crossing and spots two men removing some packages from the track. The scene is immediately followed by the report of a gun and the unwanted witness is shot dead. Soon afterwards, on the 201st kilometer, the train explodes. Only one of the escorts Lenk (Radoslav Brzobohatý) survives the explosion, taken to hospital with serious injuries. Criminologist Major Kalas (Jirí Sovák) and the very young Second Lieutenant Karlícek (Jaromír Hanzlík) patiently gather facts, leads and testimonies.

Фильм в стиле модерн состоит из живых боевых сцен, обычно снятых в черно-белых тонах, а также рисованной от руки, остановки движения и анимации вырезов. Различные живые действия и анимированные элементы часто объединяются в одну сцену.

Tram driver Marie has far too much to do after her shift is over. But she likes to do it all since she loves her husband Václav sincerely. One day she spots him on the Lesser Town Square in Prague, kissing an attractive blonde good-bye. It seems to Marie that her small comfortable world has collapsed and she walks out of the tram in tears. But her sadness does not last long. She wipes off the tears and begins to act. She withdraws all the money from their savings books and buys off all the latest models from the Fashion Works. The visit to the beauty salon then completes her transformation into a lady.

В годы Второй мировой войны словацкому плотнику Тоно Бртко в рамках программы ариизации от свояка достаётся небольшой магазин старой еврейки Розалии Лаутманн, торгующей пуговицами. Тоно прекрасно понимает, что свояк подсунул ему совершенно бедный магазин и никакой прибыли от него ему не видать. Но он боится объяснить это жене, из-за её свирепого характера, и также не может объяснить старухе Лаутманн, что теперь он является хозяином её имущества. В 1965 году фильм удостоился премии «Оскар» в номинации «Лучшая картина на иностранном языке», а год спустя Ида Каминска получила номинацию на премию киноакадемии за Лучшую женскую роль второго плана. Фильм также получил премию «Золотой глобус» и был отмечен специальной наградой на Каннском кинофестивале.

Глубокий психологический анализ одного из представителей поколения молодых энергичных функционеров начала 60-х гг. Рабочий Ярда чувствует себя обманутым: он недоволен тем, куда движется общество.

Действие фильма происходит в XVII веке, в Чехии, во время Тридцатилетней войны. Герои фильма — императорский мушкетер Матей, крестьянский парень Петр, завербованный в мушкетеры, и Ленка, молодая крестьянская девушка. Переодетые в брошенные в разгромленном лагере дорогие одежды, Петр, Ленка и Матей попадают в плен и оказываются в графском замке. И в зависимости от того, в какую сторону «подует злобный дух войны», меняется отношение графа к его пленникам. Однако после целого ряда приключений всем троим удается убежать из замка и вернуться к мирной жизни.

Брак Ярослава и Марии, родителей двоих школьников, выглядит мирным и упорядоченным. Мария, погружённая в домашние хлопоты, чувствует, что муж отдаляется от неё, и их отношения потеряли тепло и любовь. Мария подозревает, что за вечерними отлучками мужа кроются отношения с другой женщиной. И всё же она не желает принять горькую правду и надеется, что время всё исправит.

По старинному поверью, в ночь под Ивана Купала в непроглядной глубине дремучего леса расцветает волшебный цветок — золотой папоротник. Пастуху Юре удалось сорвать его. Страшные силы леса хотят отнять у него цветок. Но любовь девушки Лесанки сильнее темных сил, она охраняет Юру. Юноша становится солдатом, и на войне помогает ему Лесанкина любовь. Юру за отвагу производят в капитаны. Но он забыл свою Лесанку и влюбился в дочь генерала... Теперь Юра теряет и невесту и ее чудодейственную спасительную любовь.

Czech friends help refugees from Nazi Germany escape in 1939.

На остров в Тихом океане судьба забросила несколько чехословацких эмигрантов, а также врача Трояна из cоциалистической Чехословакии. Между ними происходит столкновение не только на почве идейной, но и на личной - Троян полюбил Катержину, дочь одного из эмигрантов, который против их брака. И только после смерти отца девушка находит в себе силы вырваться из окружающей ее обстановки и последовать за любимым человеком.

В фильме три новеллы: «Алло, такси», «Далёкие горизонты» и «Заза». В первой новелле рассказывается об одном дне шофёра пражского такси, его встречах с различными людьми. Вторая повествует о судьбе негритянской девочки. Третья новелла — о девушке, работнице шляпной мастерской.

О самоотверженной работе органов уголовного розыска, о раскрытии ими тяжкого и запутанного преступления рассказывает фильм.
