It is the 1930s. Physician Bartos devotedly attends poor patients in the city suburbs, at the same time researching the possibilities of regeneration of human tissues after transplantation. His former colleague Rosen, now working as an assistant at the private clinic of surgeon Kirchenbruch, considers the research a mere utopia. The disappointed Bartos, trying to verify his theories, therefore accepts the outrageous proposal of Marion, owner of a brothel - to surgically replace the face of her lover, the wanted thief Cutter, with the face of murdered Father Hopsasa. Bartos is well paid but his successful operation remains a secret.

Год 1420. Гуситская революция охватила всю страну, хотя пражане видели в императоре Сигизмунде своего врага, также они боялись и бунтующих бедняков. Поэтому центр движения переместился в Южную Чехию, где неделились на своих и чужих, а создали общину Верных, которые воевали за новый, справедливый порядок, против всех врагов. Фильм рассказывает о дальнейших событиях, следующих после победы гуситов над католиками под Судомержем в конце предыдущего фильма, красочно показана битва за Прагу, в ходе которой небольшое гуситское войско обратило в бегство многотысячное войско императора Сигизмунда.

Фильм повествует о начале гуситского движения и восстания в Праге, и появления во главе гуситов великого полководца Яна Жижки, и первой крупной полевой битве гуситов с католиками под Судомержем, где повстанцы отбили атаку многочисленного противника с помощью повозок.

Начало XV века. Чешское королевство богато и сильно, но католическая церковь обирает простых людей, и это порождает растущее негодование чехов. Король не хочет ссориться с Римом и изо всех сил старается не допустить возмущения в народе. Выразителем чаяний населения становися магистр Ян Гус - его проповеди против алчности церкви и защита чешского народа от засилья немцев находят все более широкий отклик, что угрожает вызвать в стране бунт...

Dog's Heads (Czech: Psohlavci) is a 1955 Czech drama film directed by Martin Frič, based on the novel of the same name by Alois Jirásek. It was entered into the 1955 Cannes Film Festival.

История любви молодого рабочего и приехавшей из села на заработки в город девушки, разворачивается на фоне бурных революционных событий 1919-20 годов. Оказавшись в Праге, Анна устраивается служанкой в семью строительного инженера. Вскоре она знакомится с рабочим-сталеваром Томеком, активным членом социал-демократической партии. Через него девушка узнает о коммунистических идеях, которые сразу же оставляют глубокий след в ее душе.

В основу сценария был положен сюжет Б.Кунца, описавшего реальный факт: интернирование чехословацкого самолета и группы чехословацких граждан властями американской зоны оккупации в Западной Германии. На основании рассказов очевидцев постановщикам удалось показать яркую картину нравов американской разведки. В этой схватке лицом к лицу выявились и благородные чувства патриотизма чехословацких граждан, добившихся возвращения на родину.

It's very human and nice story about lofty princess (her father is amiable but incapable - unforgettable performance of S. Neumann) and good, nice, kind and well-principled young king (prince) who tries to make tender her calm heart to get married with her. After being refused (she's very capricious), he conclude to make her better. He start to work as a gardener at her castle (in secret) and successively bring she to her senses...The story continues when already reformed princess and the young king (she learn about his real identity later) have to take refuge from troops, that princess father (old king) has sent (of course he took a bad and mean counsellors advice). They have to take shelter by several ordinary and poor families, which are always very friendly and give them a help... Of course the tale has happy end.

Фильм подробно показывает ход забастовки, отчаянную решимость рабочих обеспечить достойную жизнь своим семьям, готовность выдержать забастовку и предотвратить увольнение.

Работники авиационного завода создали свой клуб планеристов и участвуют в соревнованиях. Франта Ронек — молодой человек, влюблённый в небо. Его друг, талантливый авиаконструктор Руда Колар также является отличным планеристом, однако он не дисциплинирован и высокомерен со своими коллегами. При этом Руда начинает заигрывать с Лидой, хотя знает, что она подруга Франты. Нарушение Рудой техники безопасности при обслуживании планера Франты, приводит к аварии. Лида, единственный свидетель аварии, не рассказывает о вине Руды. Это событие настолько потрясает виновника катастрофы, что он осознает свои недостатки и меняет своё отношение к людям и работе.

Военная драма, показывающая трагедию еврейского населения в оккупированной Варшаве. Герои – жители варшавского доходного дома – дети и взрослые. Начинается война, немцы берут Варшаву, создают гетто. Родители Фредека сотрудничают с нацистами, раскрывают еврейское происхождение доктора Бялека, а затем занимают его квартиру.

People are afraid of the usurer Chazaj and are convinced that he is the bearer of evil. One day Chazaj pays a visit to the poor artist Simon Jordán and asks him to paint his portrait. Simon agrees but as he progresses with the work his mind conjures up terrible thoughts and in the end he commits suicide. The portrait looks lifelike and Chazaj is content with the results. After Chazaj's death the picture changes hands and brings misfortune to all who own it. The last victim is the young painter Roman who buys Chazaj's portrait in a bazaar. He finds a treasure in the frame and begins to live well off it. The comfortable life suits him so well that he rejects his original artistic aims and becomes a painter of fashionable kitsch.

Master armourer Tomás has young wife Alena, of whom he is very jealous. One day the ruler of town sees Alena and decides to win her over for himself. To get a free hand for his love affairs, he sends Master Tomás to acquire more skills in Flanders. Jealous husband does not know how to secure fidelity of his beautiful wife while he is away, and finally accepts aid of the devil, to whom he signs his soul as a reward. Devil in the disguise of Master Ondrej works in Tomás's workshop and protects Alena against various courtiers and the ruler of town. But finally he falls in love with Alena himself and becomes her lover.

Mist on the Moors examines fates of just about a few people. Their stories are outlined in a short space of time and are a symbolic representation of the drama of life, struggle for justice, human cognizance and the healing power of love. One of the most important components of the film is the nature, which ceases to be a mere stage for its plot—it serves almost as an autonomous plot agent. The movie landscape is a precisely defined and localized one. Only the South Bohemian ponds can serve as the right environment for development of such earthy and typically human stories as we encounter in the Mist on the Moors.

"Grandmother" is a highly romanticized autobiographical novel by a Czech 19th century writer, Bozena Nemcova. It's a classical, compulsory reading in Czech schools, about a wise, working-class woman, happier in her simplicity and good heart than the nobles whom she serves.
