Lau used all his savings to purchase a house from a shady profiteer named Wing. The house had plenty of problems--despite the fact that it wasn't even big enough for a single person--and Lau tried to sue Wing to recover his money, but lost. Lau eventually died of depression because of this ruling, but before he passed, he asked his daughter to get revenge on Wing. It wasn't long before the Lau family was able to use Wing's greedy personality against him and trick him into bankruptcy. But when he discovers what happened to him--and who was responsible--he decides not to take it sitting down...

Out of the Shaw Brothers vaults comes My Darling Genie, an amiable early-eighties comedy starring the enchanting Cherie Chung. Derek Yee is Cheng, a brusque construction worker who discovers a magical umbrella on a routine dig. When the umbrella is opened and sprinkled with water, a 200 year-old genie arrives to grant the owner's wishes. As if that weren't enough, this genie happens to look like Cherie Chung! Cheng has been given a virtual ticket to Heaven, but he's more annoyed than grateful, and uses the Genie to perform mostly menial tasks.

Ko Ming Chung, a wildly popular movie actor is having an illicit affair with similarly popular thespian Ai Ling. Though Ming Chung's wife quietly puts up with this infidelity, so long as he does not try to leave her, Ai Ling's spouse is less forgiving, a middle-aged oaf prone to violence. When the tabloids get wind of the liaison, the two secret lovers find themselves headline news throughout the colony. Ming Chung's wife soon starts to mount a media blitz, painting Ai Ling as a husband-stealing, home-wrecking shrew.
