Ivan Kondov

A man and a woman meet again after many years - on the territory and circumstances of post-socialist Bulgaria. A university graduate and poetess, forced to adapt herself to the new social environment, she survives in her own country as a tram driver. Having arrived for his father's funeral after years of travels abroad, he catches a glimpse of his old flame accidentally in a tram. Could they bring back their emotional time, the time of their lives? Could they try to resurrect whatever bound them together in their youth?

A famous stage and screen actor has been invited for an interview on 'Question Time', a popular Bulgarian TV program. He has fought heroically in the anti-fascist resistance and at present his talent is bringing him artistic satisfaction and fame. His personal life also seems to be trouble-free. After the end of Sunday program, however, he learns that he is terminally ill with leukemia. The prospect of death destroys his all too comfortable illusions and turns his ideas of life upside down. His love for a provincial actress, from whom he has broken away in the past, is rekindled. Now he needs a closer relationship with his only son, who owes many of his complexes to the egotism of his father. The deceptive harmony between genuine and pseudo art in his career gets disturbed. The protagonist devotes the last few month of his life to the staging of a play which has been rejected in the past, and which he has not had the courage to defend.

Friends of different generations, practicing different professions, spend together their summer holidays at the seaside every year. It is sunny; they look carefree and happy. They know each other very well, they are used to each other. To such an extent, that bore becomes inevitable. It is boredom that incites them to play a dangerous game. The end is dramatic: a young boy gets killed. It is the moment to draw the bottom line. The question is: Isn't the death of the spirit worse than of the body?

Near a large Bulgarian city begins the construction of a large factory. There is a fertile land in close by. Prof. Dimov, Director of the Environment Protection Institute has to submit his official approval for the civil works to begin. He and his co-worker Prof. Radev refuse.

1920's. A young girl - teacher comes from the city to a small, poor village to teach the children. There is a medic in the village. Without being a doctor, he has taken up the noble deed to help people. The "miracle" of the village is two twins - brother and sister, Lefter and Leftera. Both of them resell village land. Everyone is feeling the pressure from the twins. This causes the eruption of a violent and bloody riot.

The film takes us back into the times of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom - 13th century. The Bulgarian Emperor - Tsar Ioan Assen - is trying through several marriages to enlarge the State and to support the peace in it.

After a successful concert, the famous singer Lina Dimova disappears. She travels to the seaside, where she pretends to be mute and lives in the cabin of Manol at the bed of Ropotamo River.

The day that the financial clerk Metodi Rashkov is getting retired comes. He is a shy and quiet man and he accepts all tasks given to him by his son and daughter in law without argument. With time, he becomes a housekeeper; he shops, cooks and looks after his grandson. In order to save his face in front of his friends he lies to them and falls in a number of uncomfortable situations. The "Expolsion" becomes imminent. The reason is insignificant but with great consequences. Rashkov leaves his home. Soon the freedom which he wanted becomes boring for him. The abandoned family begins to miss the grandfather. At the end everyone sees their mistakes and is ready to fix them. The birth of a second grandson is the event which brings everyone under the same roof again.

The Bulgarian intelligence service has information that the top agent Peron is to arrive in Bulgaria. The higher official of the counter intelligence Ivan with an alias Y 17 is to investigate. Peron has to meet his local contact, the former ship captain Rudnev. The young Mina is accommodated in Rudnev's home. Rudnev figures that she is counterintelligence and agrees to cooperate with the task force. Soon after, Peron meets Mina and an eccentric engineer, fired from the job. The young man is the deep undercover agent Y 117. Peron tests the man. He tells him that Mina is an agent of the Bulgarian counterintelligence, and gives him a gun to kill her. Y 117 shoots Mina but the bullet was a blank. After that Y 117 should leave the country with Peron.

Maria is having great difficulty getting on with her parents because of their blind, consumerist approach to life. Traumatized by continuous family dramas, having experienced the disappointments of firs love, Maria decides to go up the mountain to a holiday home. There she meets a conceited architect, a shy teacher, a jurist, and a timid journalist (all of them representatives of the intelligentsia) who are domineered by the manager of the holiday home and his 'problems'. Maria's resignation changes into a rebellion against impersonal submission and sheep-like compliance with those who hold power.

Major Hariev, a State Security officer, manages to learn that the spying center codenamed Citadel receives encoded letters. Sometime later, the Bulgarian agent in the West reports that the spy h as a subscription to the French woman's magazine. The State Security men find a beautician, who received the magazine and delivers it to Ivan Bolyarski, director of an important state department. Hariev follows Bolyarski to his meeting with the Hawk, his associate working in a military unit. The Hawk agrees to deliver the request information for an exorbitant sum of money. Hariev runs into the Hawk and kills him in the fight. Bolyarski is arrested. Major Hariev is planted in his cell. In a moment of demoralization, the agent discloses the secrets of the Citadel to Hariev. Hariev has to go to the Citadel, passing off as the Hawk. He takes a leap in the dark and does not know if he will ever come back to his wife and his child.

The partisan Welichko is given the task of rescuing four Russian prisoners of war who are in one of the freight cars of a German train.

Bistra and Evgeny, first year university students, are in love and inseparable, but slowly with time Bistra becomes infatuated with Evgeny's dad, as she sees him as the embodiment of what her dream lover would be. Shocked and distressed at this revelation, Evgeny hits a pedestrian with his car. Bistra's the only one who can help him in court if she's willing to admit what they talked about before the crash.

Поглощенный своими заботами, своей работой, инженер Манасиев не замечает, как растут его дети, как становятся самостоятельными. И только тогда, когда младший сын совершает кражу, Манасиев понимает, что ему следует жить иначе и больше забот и внимания уделять семье.

The new supervisor Vasil arrives at the construction site of a dam. Vasil has problems with his men, who mistrust him and reluctantly submit to his perfectionism. He becomes involved with the refreshment bar attendant Lilyana. Vasil, who always wanted children, cannot abandon his childless wife and breaks with Lilyana. When four workers are buried in a tunnel landslide, Vasil makes his way to them and manages to drag them all out, except for Zlatan, a spiteful egocentric, whose legs are caught under a fallen prop. Zlatan begs Vasil to save him, even if it means cutting of his legs. To release the miner's legs Vasil cuts the prop, which is also supporting the roof of the tunnel. Zlatan is rescued. However, Vasil is killed. Since then, the workers say his steps can be heard bellow the dam wall.

Петко, молодой и бодрый мужчина, покидает родную деревню Банско, расстается с Беной - женщиной, которую любит, и уходит в монастырь Хилендар, где настоятелем является его брат. Там он принял монашеское имя Паисий. Он начал читать летописи и старые книги, в которых нашел сведения об истории Болгарии. Он познакомился с Евгением Булгарисом, греком из Самоковской епархии, который собирал данные по истории греческого народа. Ту же задачу взял на себя серб Йован Райчев. Монастырь стал тесным для работы, предпринятой Паисием, и он начал путешествовать по стране. Счастливее всего он был, когда прочитал в старинной хронике слова латинского кардинала Цезаря Бартони: «Болгары страшны для всего мира — народ маленький, но храбрый».

Девять добровольцев начинают копать туннель через пересеченную горную местность. В состав группы входят три горняка. Остальные приехали из разных уголков страны по разным причинам. Когда наступает зима, метель делает дорогу непроходимой, и грузовик с припасами не может вовремя добраться до них. Осталось копать всего сто метров, и туннель обрушился. Со стройки уходят все, кроме коммуниста Дамьяна. В городе они регистрируются на шахте и должны начать работу через два дня. В течение этих двух дней один за другим они переполняются стыдом за то, что покинули туннель, и, наконец, возвращаются к Дамьяну, чтобы завершить свое дело, несмотря на все трудности.

Маргаритка болеет во время учебного года. Ее папа — писатель, а мама — актриса, которая репетирует свои реплики для новой премьеры. У нее роман с режиссёром постановки. Вскоре она начинает скучать по маме и просит папу позвонить ей. Он пишет телеграмму, но не отправляет её. Ребенок находит раскрошенный лист бумаги и идёт на почту. Прибывает мама, и все трое воссоединяются.

История трех коммунистов, стремящихся уехать в Испанию для участия в гражданской войне на стороне Республики. Действие фильма разворачивается в годы монархо-фашистской диктатуры в Болгарии. Три коммуниста - Стефан, Добри и Крыстан - решили эмигрировать в СССР, а оттуда в Испанию, чтобы принять участие в борьбе против фашизма. Они захватили моторную лодку и ночью покинули берега родины. Лодочник Марин - человек чуждый политике, под влиянием этих людей становится сознательным участником их бегства. Снабдив трех коммунистов бензином, продовольствием и пресной водой, Мартин пожелал им счастья там, за горизонтом, куда они поехали, надеясь встретиться с ними снова, но в более счастливое для родины время.

О любви немецкого солдата к еврейской девушке Рут, угоняемой фашистами в лагерь смерти, о любви, которая заставила юношу пересмотреть свои взгляды на жизнь и вступить в ряды борцов против фашизма.

20-е годы прошлого века. На маленьком острове в Черном море размещены 43 политических заключенных. Кроме них и охраны здесь проживают и двое гражданских – вечно пьяный смотритель маяка с маленькой дочерью. Среди самых свободолюбивых и беспокойных узников медленно, но верно зреет план побега. Окончательно он формируется с прибытием на остров нового коменданта тюрьмы капитана Станева. Жестокий садист, он с удовольствием измывается над заключенными, вызывая ответное чувство ненависти. Из-за трагической случайности побег срывается. Планировавшие его смельчаки гибнут один за другим, и тогда один из них, исполнявший в лагере обязанности доктора, решает поднять узников на бунт.
