The husband and wife Ludva and Hedus Homolkas with their twins Péta and Máta and Ludva's parents - the granny and grandpa - arrive in the snowy Spindleruv Mlýn for a holiday. Происходит даже церемония знакомства, крайне унизительная для обеих сторон. Но, вопреки планам руководства, молодой симпатичной Андуле выпадает карта из другой колоды. Вместо лысеющего резервиста ей удается подцепить музыканта из Праги. Он и не подозревает, что мимолетная интрижка обернется нежданной гостьей на пороге столичной квартиры… Это образцовый фильм чешской новой волны, хорошо усвоившей уроки французского - натурные съемки, непрофессиональные актеры, "непреднамеренная" камера.
