Love in Bombay (also marketed under the title Love in Mumbai) is a Hindi film produced and directed by Joy Mukherjee. The film was originally made in 1971 and starred Waheeda Rehman, Sonia Sahni, Rehman, Kishore Kumar, and Ashok Kumar. The film was not released and was discovered by Mukherjee's son after his death in March 9, 2013. But it has released on August 2, 2013, that is,42 years after it was made.

Renukadevi is widowed and the mother of a son named Ram. Her husband had indulged in all possible vices, and passed away unexpectedly. Her father-in-law, Rai, does not want Ram to repeat his father's mistakes, and teaches him all the positive values of the Hindu religion, in particular the contents of the Holy Book "Geeta". As a result, Ram refrains from all known vices, is an expert in yogic exercises, decides to live the life of a celibate, and refuses to marry anyone. When Rai passes away, Renuka asks Ram to fulfill his grandfather's last wishes, one of which was to get married. She even arranges his introduction to Aarti, an attractive young woman. But Ram is convinced that marriage is not for him.

Raghuvir is a career criminal, and one day he is arrested by the Police, tried in Court, and sentenced to a long prison term. Shortly thereafter, he breaks out of prison, goes to the Judge who sentenced him, kills him, his wife, three sons, and two daughters. The Police chase, shoot him, wounded, he falls into a river and is believed to be dead. Twenty years later, Dilip, who lives a wealthy and care-free lifestyle with his widowed dad, Karamchand, is told that he has been adopted, and the person responsible for killing his dad, mom, and siblings, is Raghuvir whose body has never been found. Dilip gives up his care-free existence, takes the assistance of his friend, Ram, and goes to look for Raghuvir. What Dilip does not know is that Raghuvir is none other than Ram's father, who has been missing for 20 years. Watch what happens when Ram finds out that Dilip is going to kill his dad, and the impact this has on their friendship.

Sunil Mehta is a businessman married to a pretty and loving wife, Geeta. Sunil's only problem is she is easily led to suspicion. Bharat (Rajendra Kumar) is a patriotic young man for whom patritism does not stop anywhere. He comes to know of the tyrancy of the present ruler's Diwan (Ajit) and he and his colleagues (Soodesh Kumar, Rajendra Nath) rebel. They kidnap Princess Chitralekha (Waheeda Rehman) unknowingly, and call her Jwala. Meanwhile, Bharat's dad (Balraj Sahni) who is the Inspector General, does not approve of Bharat's rebellious nature and decides to arrest him on sight. Bharat's mom (Kamini Kaushal) is torn between the love for her husband and her son. Bharat determination against the Diwan is so strong that he decides to bomb-blast a railway train transporting the Diwan, knowingly that his own dad is also travelling on that train. Shankar Chaudhry, a wealthy man gets married to Maya assuming she is the daughter of Ambala-based Advocate Madhusudan. He is shocked to realize that Maya and her brother Prakash have cheated him.

Dr. Dharmesh (Rajendra Kumar) and Sita (Meena Kumari) are in love, and hope to marry on Dharmesh's return from abroad. When Dharmesh returns, he is devastated to find that Sita has married someone else. He then decides to devote the rest of his life at a cancer clinic.
