Сразу после начала Второй мировой войны Гай Краучбэнк в желании оказаться как можно дальше от своей жены, эффектной блондинки и светской львицы Вирджинии Трой, открыто хвастающей своими изменами мужу, записывается добровольцем в британскую армию. Его бригаду переправляют в Дакар на помощь «свободным французам», штурмующим город. Несмотря на храбрость Гая, его возвращают в Англию и после краткого курса боевой подготовки в составе отряда коммандос вновь отправляют на фронт. В результате серии недоразумений Гая и его однополчан провозглашают героями, хотя и… немного опасными для общества. Тем более сильным контрастом военному опыту Гая становится его новое и страстное «знакомство» с бывшей женой…

He's keen to flog them a tyre-production plant. based in the Ukraine, which will unshackle UKM from bothersome unions at home. But at the negotiating table, it fast becomes apparent that the Soviets are more interested in the laser technology UKM employs to vulcanise their tyres; and Peter starts to foresee a new future in military aerospace for his ever fiexible firm.
