В основе сюжета кинодилогии - исследование сложных судеб коммунистов-антифашистов разных национальностей. Фильм основан на биографиях реальных людей, чья жизнь вобрала в себя самые драматические этапы истории 30-50-х годов XX века.

Всего несколько дней назад марсиане приземлились на землю и познакомились с её обитателями. Марсиане, как более развитая раса, стремятся обучить людей новым технологиям. Всё бы хорошо, но ведущему новостей кажется, что здесь что-то не так.

A story of a dropout out of a succesful career and a loving family. He goes to a local railroad station, then checks into a hotel and refuses to leave despite visits by a psychiatrist and his own son. He watches people daily at the station. A tv reporter is trying to come up with a story which would help him to save his job. He likes to chase women and the dropout's wife is one of his targets. He gets interested in the story of her husband and tries to make a program about mysterious individual. Once the tv crew arrives to the scene, the subject tries to hide and ends up on the roof of the station, where he catches a glimpse of sunshine - the "smaller sky" - before stepping onto a glass roof and falling to his death.

The main characters are the same two quarreling peasant families introduced in "Sami swoi" (Our Folks). The action of the film starts 18 years later. The old quarrels have been forgotten, but new problems keep popping up. They have no successors to inherit the farms. They invent a tricky and clever plan. The young granddaughter is to take over both of the farms after her marriage. Both Kargul and Pawlak have no rest until they carry out the plan. In the end, after numerous adventures and obstacles their cunning intrigue is fulfilled - the young marry and the land remains in the family's hands.

Странные слухи расползаются по поезду, идущему вдоль побережья Балтийского моря. Все они касаются загадочного пассажира явно прячущегося от кого то, в компании не менее загадочной блондинки, переживающей из-за преследования. Подозревают что в поезде едет убийца. Конкретных улик нет. И только зрителю предстоит разгадать эту загадку.

Известие о нападении гитлеровской Германии на Польшу в 1939 году застает команду подводной лодки польского военного флота «Орел» в Балтийском море. Лодка уже не может войти в Гдынь, так как фарватер заминирован. Экипаж лодки оказался отрезанным от родины, почти безоружным. Немцы по пятам преследуют отважных моряков, и тем не менее они уходят от врага.
