The Lesson tells the story of Zane, a devoted teacher mentoring the senior class in a Latvian high school. She tries to live her life in the most meaningful way possible. She takes her mission as a teacher seriously, and works hard to help her students develop their talents. Even so, as a younger teacher it’s hard for Zane to keep her distance from the class – the students soon become a sort of family to her. When she realizes she’s falling in love with one of them, the others start to feel left out. She faces a stark choice between personal happiness and the pressures of society.

The unifying element of the ten shorts is the place where they take place - the airport. A lot can happen there - including a strike by a comet, a malicious attempt to break havoc by passengers, or an exploration of the old airport guard's house where not a lot has changed since the collapse of the Soviet Union. На проходящем в Риге соревновании по бильярду совершается преступление — похищают одного из иностранных участников и требуют выкуп у отца — бизнесмена. В этом замешаны партнеры по бизнесу, которые вместе с ним занимаются транспортировкой и захоронением химических отходов. Обнаружив, что власти как — то вяло ведут расследование, его друг самостоятельно начинает поиск. Выясняется, что противником оказывается соперник по спорту, который является и офицером полиции. Спортивное соперничество шагнуло за зеленое сукно на поле жизни, где ставкой становится сама жизнь.
