After her husband dies, Nieves inherits his job as the super of a decaying apartment complex in New York City. But the job becomes more difficult than she anticipated when she discovers a disturbing secret in one of the units.

A troubled 14-year-old boy grows increasingly isolated as he obsesses over the circumstances surrounding his father's death. His descent puts him on a dismal and potentially violent course that will lead to major truths and even greater questions.
