Susanne (17) and Robert (18) want to get married, but because Susanne is still under-aged, she needs parental permission. With twin babies and tight finances, the newlyweds soon feel overwhelmed, and dealing with everything makes them forget the love that originally brought them together.

Christine inherits a sailboat from her father, whom she barely knew. Christine is a divorced single mother and her job at a research insitute leaves her with too much work and too little time to sail. She can't find anyone to buy the boat at full value, so she tries to repair it over the winter in the hopes of being able to get a better price in the spring. Working on the boat become something of an obsession to the detriment of Christine's relationships with her son, boyfriend and collegues. When the boat is finally ready to sell, she isn't sure that she is willing to part with it after all.

In 1938, a young woman leaves Germany to search for her love, Erich, in Reichenburg, Bohemia. Erich is secretly fighting the fascists, so Hilde ends up becoming a housemaid in the home of a German joiner in order to carry on their relationship. The joiner's son notices the passionate love shared between Hilde and Erich. To him, the young lady embodies the feminine ideal. When Hilde receives news of Erich's death, she descends into an uninhibited lifestyle in an attempt to forget.

Maja Wegner is in her late thirties and a single mother of a teenage daughter. To give her stale life a new direction, she decides to start all over again in the big city. She sells her house in the countryside, quits her job, and moves with her daughter to Berlin. There, she finds a job as a conductor for the railroad company. Although Maja soon finds new friends in her apartment building, the search for a new life partner does not come off so easily.

Героя фильма, монтажника высоковольтных линий Ханнеса Блашке, одолевают сомнения. Старенький "Трабант" уже тесноват для его разросшегося семейства. Какую же машину приобрести взамен? А может, не гнаться за модными и дорогими марками, купив списанный на металлолом старый черный лимузин, отремонтировать его, подновить... И вот счастливый Блашке - за рулем. Впереди смешные и неожиданные события...

Картина рассказывает об организации РСХА провокации-«нападения» поляков на немецкую радиостанцию в Гляйвице (Верхняя Селезия) в ночь на 1 сентября 1939 г. Эта провокация явилась поводом нападения на Польшу и начала Второй мировой войны.
